Revenue Splits And Collaborator Payouts: How To Pay Your Team On EVEN

How to set up revenue splits on a release, what changes once it goes live, and what to do when a collaborator has not been paid.

Revenue splits let you pay producers, featured artists, and anyone else who worked on a release automatically, straight out of each sale. This page covers how to set splits up, what you can still change before a release goes live, and what to do when a collaborator has not been paid.

The three rules

Everything about splits comes back to these three rules:

  • Splits must total 100%. If the percentages add up to anything else, they will not apply.

  • Everyone on the split needs their own completed Stripe account. Your account being connected is not enough, because each person is paid directly and has to connect their own account before money can reach them.

  • Splits apply to the whole release, not to individual tracks. One set of percentages covers the album or EP, so you cannot give a producer a different share on a single song.

Setting up your splits

Add your collaborators during release setup, or at any point before the release goes live. For each person you enter their email address, their country, their role, and their percentage. Once you add them, each collaborator gets an email inviting them to set up Stripe.

Check the email addresses carefully before you save. A typo is the most common reason a collaborator never hears from us, because the invite goes to an address that does not exist and nobody notices until money starts moving.

What locks when you publish

You can edit splits freely while your release is still in draft or waitlist mode. Go to My Releases, select the release, and use the Revenue Splits section to change percentages or add collaborators.

Once the release goes live, splits are locked and you can no longer edit them yourself. If something is wrong at that point, email support@even.biz straight away rather than waiting, because payouts run daily against sales that have already happened, so the sooner we know, the less there is to unpick.

Your splits show 0%

If you set splits and your dashboard shows 0%, they did not save. Email support@even.biz and include:

  • Your artist name on EVEN.

  • The name of the release.

  • Each collaborator's email address and the percentage they should have.

  • A screenshot of the splits screen, if you can grab one.

If the release is already selling, mention that in your email so we can prioritize it.

A collaborator has not been paid

Payouts run daily and there is no minimum balance to reach, so if a collaborator has been waiting, something is incomplete rather than simply pending. It is almost always one of these:

  • They have not finished their Stripe setup. Until they do, their share stays in your account, so it is not lost, it just cannot reach them yet. Ask them to complete it.

  • They never received the invite. Check the email address you entered for a typo.

  • Their bank is still processing the payout. Once a payout leaves EVEN it can take 24 to 48 hours to land, depending on the bank.

An incomplete Stripe account on a collaborator's side can also surface as errors on yours, so it is worth confirming with everyone on the split rather than assuming.

If you were added to someone else's split

You do not need to be an EVEN artist to be paid as a collaborator. You will get an email with the subject "Act Now: Secure Your Daily Payouts on EVEN with Stripe!" asking you to set up a Stripe account so your share can reach you. Finish that setup as soon as it arrives, ideally before the release goes live, because until you do your share sits with the artist instead of coming to you.

If you were told you are on a split but never received an invite, ask the artist to check the email address they entered. If it is correct and you still have nothing, email support@even.biz with the artist's name, the release, and the email address you expected to be contacted on.

The "split user already configured" error

This is a known Stripe error with a quick fix on our end. See the Stripe Setup Error: Split User Already Configured playbook for what to send us.

What collaborators can and cannot see

Splits pay people, they do not share your data. Producers and collaborators cannot see your fan analytics, buyer locations, or revenue trends, because only you have access to those. If you want your team to have those numbers, export the reports and send them across yourself.

If a collaborator is somewhere Stripe does not operate

Stripe is not available in every country. In African countries we pay out through Startbutton, and elsewhere there are other options we can set up. Have the collaborator email support@even.biz with their country and we will work out the right route for where they are.

Need help right now?

Email support@even.biz with your artist name and the release. If the release is live and money is already moving, say so in the subject line. Support is available Monday through Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM ET.
