How To Create And Edit An Access
Access Points are the extra content, events, and merch you attach to a release to reward the fans who buy in. You build them in Backstage, and you can come back and edit them later.
To get started, log in at backstage.even.biz, open the Access tab, and click New Access Point. There is nothing to wait for on your side, because your account does not need approval before you can build.
Creating a content Access Point
Choose the content type. In the content creation module, select the kind of content you are offering: video, images, audio, or PDF.
Give the Access Point a title. This title shows in the access section of your release, so make it clear and specific about what a fan is getting.
Write the description. This longer description is only visible to fans who have acquired the Access Point, so use it to explain the content in detail and add anything else they need to know.
Upload your content. Drag and drop the files you want to upload, or click to browse the files on your computer.
Fill in the preview card. The preview card is what fans see in the release's access section before they buy. In the right sidebar of the content builder, link the Access Point to the release it belongs to, upload a thumbnail, and write a brief description of what fans will get when they acquire it.
Continue to access details. Once the content is uploaded and the preview card is filled in, click Access Details.
Review the summary. The next screen shows a summary of your Access content, including its title and description, so you can check that everything reads the way you want.
Set a start or end date if you need one. This step is optional, and it lets fans know when the content becomes available to view and when it closes.
Set your minimum price. In the right sidebar, set the minimum a fan has to pay for this Access Point to be included with their purchase. If you already have Access Points, you will see your existing tiers listed there.
Submit the Access Point. When everything is reviewed, click Submit to finish. Once your release is published and available for purchase, fans can open the content or see the details of what is on offer.
Content file specifications
Video must be MP4, up to 2GB, with one video per Access Point.
Images must be PNG, JPG, or GIF, up to 1GB each, and you can upload up to 50 images.
PDFs must be PDF files, up to 20MB each.
Audio must be MP3, WAV, or M4A, up to 50MB per file.
Creating an event Access Point
Choose the event type. In the content creation module, select the kind of event you are running: an online event or an in-person event.
Give the Access Point a title. This title shows in the access section of your release, so make it clear what the event is.
Write the description. This longer description is only visible to fans who have acquired the Access Point, so use it to cover the details of the event and anything else attendees need to know.
Set the event date and time. Select the start date and time along with the end date and time. If you have not settled on dates yet, choose Set as coming soon and edit the Access Point later to fill them in.
Fill in the preview card. Link the Access Point to the corresponding release using the dropdown, upload a cover image that shows fans clearly what they are getting, and write a concise preview description of what comes with the purchase.
Continue to access details. Once all the event information is filled in, click Access Details.
Set your minimum price. Enter the minimum price for the Access Point in the Minimum Price box, and make sure it is equal to or higher than your release's minimum price. Fans who pay that amount will also get every Access Point with a lower minimum price.
Submit the Access Point. Click Submit to finish. Once your release is published and available for purchase, fans can see the event details or join when the time comes.
Creating a merch Access Point
Start a new merch Access Point. In your Backstage dashboard, go to the Access tab, click New Access Point, and select Merch Access from the options.
Fill in your Access Point information. This is everything fans see about the product, so it is worth taking your time here.
Set customization options if you need them. This step is optional. Enable merchandise customization to let fans choose size and color, use the dropdown menus to add the available choices, then click Save to continue.
Set your minimum price. Enter the minimum price for the Access Point in the Minimum Price box, and make sure it is equal to or higher than your release's minimum price. Fans who pay that amount will also get every Access Point with a lower minimum price.
Submit the Access Point. Click Submit to finish. Once your release is published and available for purchase, fans can buy the merch Access Point and see the details of the offering.
Viewing your merch orders
Once your release is live and fans start buying your merch Access Point, you can view, export, and manage the orders in Backstage. Go to your Access Points table and click your Merch Access to open a table of orders from fans who have bought and provided their shipping details and any customization choices.
Orders from fans who have not yet given you their information will not appear in that table. To work out who is still outstanding, export your fan purchases list from the Analytics tab and compare it against the Merch Orders table.
Managing merch orders
You can update order statuses and add tracking numbers, and any change you make is reflected in your fans' accounts.
To change an order's status, click the order in the Merch Orders table, or select several orders at once to change their status in bulk.
To add tracking information, click Add Tracking and enter the tracking number along with the tracking link if you have one.
Editing an Access Point
You are not locked in once an Access Point is live. Open the Access tab in Backstage, click the Access Point you want to change, and update the fields you need, which is how you fill in an event date or an access link you originally set as coming soon.
